That's where this bloooger was on Saturday night. Not telle, no radio, no internet and only limited phone coverage through which some garbled text messages arrived: "Go Roar!", "Samba samba", "3-0" and "Super Charlie Miller". The obvious deduction was that the roar had won and won well. The wine tasted sweeter and the fire glowed that much brighter orange.
A review of the footage dispelled the rumor that Reinaldo's finishing somehow improved while he sat on an exercise bike for 8 months, as he reliably stabbed his first attempt directly at the keeper only to benefit from a fortuitous rebound. However apparently the Roars were impressive and away wins at Newcastle will be hard to come by this year - just ask Miron.
This sunday will be a tough ask with so many players out. The roar will be missing Mackay, Murdocca, Tiatto, DeVere, Zullo (what is going on there??), Nicholls and Tommy Oar.
The front line should be fine with Reinaldo, Henrique and Van Dijk and the Back is well covered with Moore, McJosh, Malcolm, Mundy and the new right back (who did well on the weekend by all accounts). midfield will be the tricky area - surely Malcolm will be asked to cover for Tiatto and Miller will remain, but the last spot will be up for grabs. Perhaps Cernak or Sarota will form one side of a very attacking 442, alternatively one of them, Dodd or Brattan could take their place alongside Malcolm in the middle.
